Why choose an all-uPVC lift & slide door
An all-uPVC door uses the same KS 430 system, glazing and hardware as the uPVC/aluminum version. What it leaves out is the aluminum cladding on the outside. For many homes that is a sensible place to save: the door keeps the same thermal, acoustic and security figures, and the exterior is uPVC in classic white.
uPVC is non-porous, so dirt and moisture stay on the surface instead of soaking in, and it resists discolouration over time. Internorm uses robust 4 mm thick extrusions in a reinforced, multi-chamber frame, which gives a heavy sash the stiffness it needs to run true year after year. Its smooth surfaces need cleaning, never sanding or repainting.
It suits homes where the exterior is already white or light, doors that open onto a sheltered yard rather than open water, and anywhere humidity runs high. Internorm describes uPVC as perfectly suited to rooms with high humidity, so a kitchen that opens to the garden, a pool house or a walk-out from a finished basement are all natural places for it.

Sizing a uPVC lift & slide door for your opening
The KS 430 is built to measure up to 6500 mm wide and 2800 mm tall, a little over 21 feet by just over 9 feet. That covers most rear walls in a typical Ontario house, from a modest kitchen opening to a full-width family room facing the garden.
The section count is the first real decision. Two sections, one sliding sash and one fixed panel, is the most economical choice: at the same overall size it costs less than three or four sections and has fewer meeting points to seal. Three and four sections suit wider walls, or a layout where you want the opening in the middle of the glass.
Each sash can weigh up to 400 kg. The lift & slide mechanism makes that weight easy to move, but the header above and the floor below must be designed to carry it. On a renovation, where a new door replaces an older slider, checking the existing header is the first thing we do.
Warm glass you can sit beside
Large glass decides how a room feels in February. The KS 430 is triple glazed, and the standard glass carries Internorm’s double low-e iPlus coating. Internorm’s figures for it are 74% light transmission and, with −10 °C outside and a 24 °C room, an inside glass surface of around 21 °C. That is the difference between a sofa you can put against the door and one you push away from a cold draft.
A warmer inside pane also makes condensation along the bottom of the glass less likely, which matters on a door that runs down to the floor. In summer the coating reflects more of the sun’s UV, helping a south- or west-facing room stay comfortable.
Internorm notes that choosing triple rather than double glazing lets you add 40% more glass area without raising heating costs. On a lift & slide door, where glass is almost the whole surface, that is what makes a wall of glass sensible in a Canadian climate.

An all-uPVC door is white outside. Inside, and in how it opens, there is more choice than most people expect.
I-tec Decor interiors
Internorm’s digital printing applies one of thirteen designs, from Oak natural to Concrete grey, to the inside uPVC profile, with a top coat that protects against UV and household cleaners.
Anthracite Grey or white
Prefer a solid colour? The interior is also available in Anthracite Grey, which reads well against pale walls and dark floors. White inside and out keeps the look simple.
Insect screens
A standard sliding screen on top and bottom rails, or a pleated Harmony screen that folds away to the side. Pollen-reducing and ultra-fine meshes are available.
Comfort Drive
Electric operation opens and closes the door at the push of a button, useful for very large sashes and for anyone who finds a handle hard to turn.
Keyless access
An ekey fingerprint scanner can be mounted on the frame of the lift & slide door, so the family can come in from the garden without a key.
Handles and soft close
Internorm lift & slide handles include the G80, Dallas and Softline designs, and a soft-close handle return is standard on the KS 430.
Pairing the door with uPVC windows
Most uPVC lift & slide doors are ordered alongside windows for the same project, and the KS 430 is designed to be combined with Internorm’s uPVC windows. Ordering doors and windows together also means one set of glazing decisions, one delivery and one installation schedule. It is the easiest way to make sure the glass tint, interior finish and handle colour all agree once everything is in.
When uPVC/aluminum is the better choice
Choose the uPVC/aluminum version if your exterior is dark or coloured, if the door faces strong sun or open water, or if it needs to match aluminum-clad windows elsewhere on the house. The insulation and sound figures are the same; the aluminum shell changes the colour range and adds a weather-resistant outer face.
Replacing an older patio door, step by step
Many uPVC lift & slide doors go into existing homes in place of a tired slider. This is how we approach it.

Survey the opening
We measure, check the header and the condition of the subfloor, and note how the old door was flashed and sealed.
- 02
Decide the threshold
If you want a level step from inside to out, we work out how your floor and the exterior surface will meet the glass-fibre threshold.
- 03
Specify and order
Section layout, interior finish, screen type, handle, and any Comfort Drive or fingerprint access are confirmed before your door is made to measure.
- 04
Remove and install
The old door comes out carefully, the opening is prepared, and the new frame is set level and square with an airtight connection to the wall.

Check together
We run the door with you, fine-tune the hardware and leave care advice for the seals and track.
