uPVC/Aluminum Lift and Slide Doors with a Colour-Matched Exterior
The KS 430 uPVC/aluminum pairs an insulating uPVC frame with aluminum cladding outside, finished in the RAL colour of your choice. You keep the Passive House-level insulation of the uPVC door and gain a tougher, colour-stable face for Canadian sun, snow and wind.
What the aluminum shell adds
Inside, the KS 430 uPVC/aluminum is the same multi-chamber uPVC door, with robust 4 mm uPVC cores, triple seals and all-around reinforcement. That core does the insulating, which is why the Uw value stays as low as 0.64 W/m²K and sound reduction stays at 33–43 dB, exactly as on the all-uPVC version.
Outside, a layer of aluminum cladding takes the weather. It shields the uPVC from direct sun and driving rain and holds its colour and finish over time. Construction depth grows only from 200 mm to 203 mm, so the wall detail barely changes when you move from one version to the other.
In practice it is a door you choose for the exterior. If the house is dark, coloured, or clad in stone, brick, metal or timber siding, the aluminum face lets the door belong to the facade instead of standing out as a white frame.
- Same inside: uPVC frame, triple glazing, lift & slide hardware and performance figures.
- Different outside: aluminum cladding in your RAL colour, with colour-matched screens.
- Slightly deeper: 203 mm construction depth instead of 200 mm.

Choosing a finish for the outside
The aluminum can be finished in your choice of RAL colour. Internorm’s colour cards group the finishes into highly weather-resistant standard HM colours (the one exception, M916, is facade quality), fine-structure HF and metallic HFM finishes that use a special highly weather-resistant powder coating, intense HDS colours, and two stainless-steel looks, EL01 matt and EL02 gloss.
Screens are made to match. The frame of the sliding or pleated insect screen follows the exterior colour and finish of the door, so the whole opening reads as one element from the garden.
Inside, you can stay with white, choose Anthracite Grey, or apply an I-tec Decor digital print. A dark exterior with a white interior is a combination that works well in many homes: rooms stay bright while the facade stays crisp. Printed and on-screen colours can differ from the real finish, so we recommend seeing finishes in person at our Oakville showroom before you decide.

Where the uPVC/aluminum KS 430 fits best
These are the situations where we usually recommend the aluminum-clad version over all-uPVC.
Lakes and open exposure
A cottage door that faces open water takes wind and rain head on. Aluminum cladding gives the most exposed face of the door a durable, easy-to-clean finish.
South and west sun
Doors that sit in strong afternoon sun benefit from a powder-coated face that keeps its colour, which matters most in darker shades.
Dark and modern facades
Black, anthracite and deep metallic exteriors need a coloured outer layer. Aluminum lets the door match your windows, fascia and railings.
Busy streets
With sound reduction up to Rw 43 dB, the KS 430 suits city lots and laneway-facing walls, where a big opening would otherwise let traffic noise in.
Mixed-material homes
Aluminum-clad doors coordinate with Internorm’s aluminum-clad uPVC and timber windows, so the outside looks uniform even when the inside changes room by room.
Low upkeep
Powder-coated aluminum outside and uPVC inside need cleaning, not refinishing. There is no paint or stain schedule to keep.
Two, three or four sections
Every KS 430 runs on dual tracks for its sliding sashes and fixed panels. How you divide the opening affects the view, the width you can walk through and the price.
Two sections
One sliding sash beside one fixed panel. The simplest layout, with a single meeting point, and the most affordable at any given overall size. Ideal when you want one generous passage to the deck or patio.
Three sections
A third panel lets the overall opening grow while each piece of glass stays a manageable size, which also helps with delivery and handling on site.
Four sections
For the widest walls. Arranging the sliding sashes to meet, for example, gives a wide central opening that splits the view symmetrically.
With fixed glazing
Add fixed elements beside the door. Built into the wall so the render or plaster covers their frames, they read as almost frameless glass next to the moving sashes.

Proportions, sightlines and shade
Most uPVC/aluminum lift & slide doors are specified for a contemporary rear elevation, where the door is part of a larger wall of glass. Frames can be overlapped by the wall build-up inside and outside so the visible profile is thinner, and fixed panels can be fully rendered in.
Ask us to draw the elevation early. The ratio of sliding to fixed glass, where panels meet, and the position of the handle all change how the wall looks from the garden and from the sofa. It is far easier to adjust on paper than once the rough opening is framed.
Large south- and west-facing glass also needs shade in July. Internorm recommends its external Raffstore Venetian blinds, with adjustable aluminum slats, for lift & slide doors, and they can be combined with flyscreens. Planning the blind housing with the door avoids a retrofit later.
One exterior, different materials inside
Internorm designs the aluminum cladding of its uPVC/aluminum and timber/aluminum products to match. A KS 430 uPVC/aluminum door can sit in the same elevation as KF 410 uPVC/aluminum windows or the slimmer, square-edged KF 510 and look like one system from outside.
That also opens up mixed interiors. You might choose a uPVC/aluminum door for a kitchen that opens to the pool and timber/aluminum windows for the living room and bedrooms. Each room gets the interior material that suits it, while the colour and profile line up on the facade.
Specify doors and windows together and we can check that frame colours, glass and hardware finishes agree before anything is ordered.

uPVC/aluminum lift & slide door questions
No, and it does not need to. The insulation comes from the multi-chamber uPVC frame and the triple glazing, so the uPVC/aluminum and all-uPVC versions share the same Uw value, as low as 0.64 W/m²K. The aluminum adds weather protection and colour.
Yes. The exterior aluminum takes your RAL colour, and the interior can be white, Anthracite Grey or one of the I-tec Decor prints, chosen independently.
Internorm’s standard aluminum colours are highly weather-resistant, apart from M916, which is facade quality. The HM, HF and HFM finishes use a special highly weather-resistant powder coating.
If your exterior is white and the door is sheltered, all-uPVC performs the same for less. If you want colour outside, a match with aluminum-clad windows, or extra protection on an exposed elevation, the aluminum shell is worth it.
Yes. Internorm notes that printing can cause colour and texture deviations, so we recommend seeing finishes in person. Our showroom at 217 Speers Rd. Unit 8 in Oakville has Internorm windows and lift & slide doors on display.
The KS 430 uses a glass-fibre threshold for thermal insulation, stability and airtightness, and the standard threshold can be installed level with the floor. We detail drainage outside with your builder.
Yes. Besides Supply & Install with our own fitters, InterHaus offers Supply Only, and Supply & Supervision, where our team spends a few days on site with your installer to check handling, fitting and finishing. Correct installation is what makes the airtightness and insulation figures real.
