Side Entrance Doors Built on Internorm Window Systems
For the mudroom, the garage, the garden or the cottage porch: a secondary door with the same insulation, sealing and security as your Internorm windows. Choose uPVC, uPVC/aluminum or timber/aluminum, matched to the windows around it.
A window system, engineered into a working door
Most homes have one door that gets designed and several that get forgotten. The back door to the yard, the mudroom door from the driveway, the walk-out from the basement: they are opened as often as the front door, often by kids with wet boots, and they are frequently the coldest and least secure openings in the house.
Internorm’s side entrance doors are built by adapting a proven window system into a fully functional door. The door inherits the window’s multi-chamber profile, triple gaskets and insulating glass, then gains what a door needs: a multi-point locking system with a knob cylinder, a low threshold for accessibility, and heavy-duty side hinges for long-term performance.
The trade-off is deliberate. These models offer more limited panel designs and no electric features, so there is no fingerprint scanner or motorised lock. In return you get the same security, durability and energy efficiency as the premium collections, in a door that matches your windows exactly. It can serve as a main entrance too, especially on modern facades where a glazed door suits the architecture.

Pick the system that matches your windows
Each side door shares its profile with an Internorm window, so it can carry the same colours, sightlines and finishes as the windows beside it.

KF 410 side entrance
Built on Internorm’s most versatile uPVC window. The deeper profile and I-tec Insulation in the frame give the KF 410 door a Uw as low as 0.70 W/m²K and up to 47 dB of sound reduction.

KF 310 side entrance
The slim, efficient choice where wall depth is tight: 74 mm with its aluminum exterior in your facade colour, a Uw as low as 0.76 W/m²K and 33 to 45 dB of sound reduction.

HF 410 side entrance
Timber inside, aluminum outside, and the best-insulated side door here at a Uw as low as 0.64 W/m²K. The natural choice where the windows are timber/aluminum.
The doors that get used most
Side and back doors close off busy, practical spaces. Each of these places puts a different demand on the door.
Mudroom and laundry
The daily family entrance. A low threshold makes it easy with bags and strollers, and the gaskets keep winter drafts out of the boot room.
Garage and storage
Internorm designs side doors to close off unheated rooms such as a garage or basement storage, so the insulated profile protects the heated house beside them.
Terrace and garden
A glazed side door brings daylight into a hallway and gives quick access to the deck, barbecue or vegetable beds without opening a large patio door.
Cottage and lake house
Secondary doors at a cottage face wind, damp and long empty weeks. Multi-point locking and low-maintenance aluminum cladding suit that life.
Basement walk-out
Lower-level doors meet cold air and moisture first. Triple gaskets and an insulated frame help keep the basement comfortable and draft-free.
Secondary main entrance
On a modern facade, a glazed side entrance door can serve as the front door, matching the windows rather than contrasting with them.

One profile, inside and out
Because the door is built from the same system as your windows, it shares their frame shape, sightlines and finishes. Outside, uPVC/aluminum and timber/aluminum doors take the same powder-coated aluminum colour as the windows; inside, you choose white uPVC, a decor colour or a timber species to suit the room.
That matters more than it sounds. A side door is often seen from the street or garden alongside a run of windows, and a mismatched frame width or colour is the first thing the eye catches. Internorm’s uPVC/aluminum and timber/aluminum systems share the same exterior cladding, so a KF 410 mudroom door can sit beside HF 410 timber windows while the outside of the house stays uniform.
If you are replacing windows at the same time, specify the side doors in the same order, so supply and installation are planned as one package.
Daylight, privacy or both
A side door can be fully glazed to light a dark hallway, or fitted with an opaque infill panel where privacy matters more than light. Design choices are narrower than on our entrance doors, but the essentials are covered, and the door is glazed with Internorm insulating glass like the windows beside it.
For privacy without losing light, Internorm offers structured glass for windows and doors such as Satinato white, Chinchilla, Mastercarré and Masterpoint, which blur the view while keeping the room bright. Not every glass suits every system, so we confirm the options for your door when we quote.
For safety, toughened glass (ESG) breaks into blunt-edged crumbs, while laminated glass (VSG) holds together on a tear-resistant interlayer and stays in the frame. On a door that children push open with both hands, or one at the bottom of a stair, laminated glass is the sensible default.

Low threshold, heavy-duty hinges
Every side entrance model has a low threshold for accessibility, so there is no high step to catch a toe, a wheel or a laundry basket. It is a real advantage in a mudroom or garage entry used dozens of times a day, and for anyone planning to stay in their home as they age.
Heavy-duty side hinges carry the sash and keep it aligned over years of use, which protects the seal. A door that sags even a few millimetres starts to drag and leak air; a well-hung door keeps its gaskets compressed evenly all the way round.
Threshold detailing depends on your floor build-up and the exterior grade, especially where snow and meltwater collect. We coordinate the door with your builder or architect so the threshold, slope and flashing work together.
Back doors need front-door security
Internorm notes that burglars usually access houses through a side or back entrance, so these doors carry serious hardware.
Multi-point locking
Several locking points engage along the frame rather than a single latch, resisting levering at the weak spots of a typical back door.
Knob cylinder
A turn-knob inside means you can lock and unlock without hunting for a key, while the outside still needs one.
Up to RC 2
All three systems are available up to resistance class RC 2, the same level as the matching windows.
Bonded glass
The KF 310, KF 410 and HF 410 systems use I-tec Glazing: the glass is glued into the sash all the way round, so a pane cannot simply be pushed out.
Side entrance questions
A side entrance door is built from a window system (KF 310, KF 410 or HF 410), with fewer panel designs and no electric features. An AT or HT entrance door is a dedicated door system with a foam-core panel, many more designs and options such as fingerprint access and motorised locking.
Yes. These doors are designed to function as main entrances too, with the same security, durability and energy efficiency as our premium collections. They suit modern homes where a glazed door matching the windows looks right.
The HF 410 timber/aluminum door, with a Uw as low as 0.64 W/m²K. The KF 410 follows at 0.70 and the slimmer KF 310 at 0.76.
Not on these models; side entrance doors do not include electric features. If keyless entry matters, look at the AT and HT entrance doors, which offer finger scan, keypad and motorised locking.
If your windows are KF 310, KF 410 or HF 410, the side door uses the same profile, so frame shape, colour and finishes can match. Send us your window order details or photos and we will specify it to suit.
