Big openings, German precision

Schüco’s all-aluminum sliding and folding doors are engineered in Germany for homeowners and architects who want expansive views, maximum daylight and an easy step between inside and outside. Every component, from the high-quality aluminum frames to the sealing systems, is designed for smooth operation and resistance to wear over years of daily use.

The two systems InterHaus supplies cover the two classic ways of opening a wall. ASE 80.HI is a lift-and-slide system with ultra-slim frames that carry large glass surfaces without sacrificing strength or insulation. AS FD 90.HI is a folding system whose panels fold neatly to the side, opening patios, terraces and poolside rooms completely.

Both use fully concealed locking, multi-point security and Schüco’s advanced thermal insulation. The wider Schüco range also includes hinged and panoramic doors, and smart home options such as automated operation and keyless access.

Choosing a system

Sliding or folding? With Schüco, decide by how you live

Folding doors are often assumed to insulate less well than sliders. Schüco’s published figures tell a different story: AS FD 90.HI reaches Uw values as low as 0.8 W/m²K and up to 45 dB of sound reduction, slightly better on paper than the ASE 80.HI lift-and-slide at 0.9 W/m²K and 43 dB. It is also the best-insulated folding door in the InterHaus aluminum range; the Reynaers Concept Folding 77, for comparison, is rated at 1.3 W/m²K.

That frees you to choose on use and appearance rather than on energy alone. ASE 80.HI suits a glass wall that stays closed much of the year: you look through wide, calm panes, and a panel slides aside when you want air. AS FD 90.HI suits a room that should open completely, where folding the panels away turns a living space into a terrace.

Sightlines differ too. The lift-and-slide profile is 80 mm wide and the folding profile 90 mm, and a folding door has a frame wherever two panels meet. If the view with the door closed matters most, ASE 80.HI keeps more glass in the picture.

Wide panes, an 80 mm frame and a smooth glide
ASE 80.HI

Wide panes, an 80 mm frame and a smooth glide

ASE 80.HI is Schüco’s lift-and-slide answer to the big view. Its ultra-slim frames allow larger glass surfaces without giving up strength or insulation, and its advanced sealing technology delivers thermal efficiency, weather resistance and security when the door is closed.

The frame depth ranges from 180 to 292 mm depending on configuration, so the system is specified to your opening rather than chosen off the shelf. We confirm the configuration that suits your opening, panel count and wall build-up before ordering.

Add automated operation for very wide panels, or keep it manual for a simple, durable everyday door.

A large door is also a large piece of your building envelope. On a cold Ontario night, a poorly insulated frame or a leaky seal is something you feel from across the room. Schüco doors are engineered with advanced thermal insulation and airtight construction to reduce heat loss and keep the space next to the glass comfortable.

Better-insulated frames also keep their inner face warmer, which lowers the risk of condensation forming on them during a cold snap. In summer, the same insulation and sealing help keep heat out and reduce cooling costs.

Many Schüco systems meet or exceed Passive House standards. If your door sits in a Passive House or net-zero envelope, we will review the system and glazing against your energy model and pair it with certified window systems from our Passive House range.

Mix and match

Schüco doors in an Internorm house

Many InterHaus clients pair Internorm windows with a Schüco door on the main opening. Internorm’s triple-glazed windows deliver the insulation where you spend the most time beside the glass, while Schüco’s slim aluminum handles the widest span on the house.

If you would rather keep one material throughout, Internorm’s own lift & slide doors come in uPVC/aluminum and timber/aluminum to match its windows. Choose Schüco when you want aluminum inside and out, a folding door with strong insulation figures, or a door that matches Schüco AWS windows on the same façade.

Fixed glass often flanks a big door. Where that pane should show no frame at all, Internorm’s HX 300 frameless glazing is worth considering next to a Schüco slider.

“Absolutely incredible windows, best out there, and Interhaus has been a pleasure to work with. They « saved » us after a bad experience with another windows company, and I just wish we had found them from the beginning. Seamless process with them, excellent communication throughout. A++ competent and efficient installers. Highly recommend if you’re looking for high quality windows and amazing customer service.”

Schüco aluminum doors: common questions

On the published figures, the AS FD 90.HI folding system reaches Uw as low as 0.8 W/m²K and the ASE 80.HI lift-and-slide 0.9 W/m²K. The difference is small, so most clients choose on how they want the opening to work and look.

Yes. Schüco offers automated operation and smart home integration, including keyless access. Automation is especially useful on wide, heavy panels.

Many Schüco systems meet or exceed Passive House standards. Whether a particular door suits your project depends on the energy model, panel sizes and glazing, so we review it early. InterHaus quotes Passive House projects within 72 hours.

The AS FD 90.HI panels fold neatly to the side, so plan a clear area where the folded stack will sit, inside or out depending on the opening direction. We work this out with you during the opening review.

Schüco offers a wide range of colours and finishes, so a door can match Schüco AWS windows, Internorm windows or your cladding, or contrast with them deliberately.
