Reynaers Aluminum Lift & Slide and Folding Doors
Belgian-designed aluminum doors that open a wall to the garden: the MasterPatio lift & slide for a glass wall you live with all year, and the Concept Folding 77 for a room that opens completely in summer. Supplied and installed by InterHaus across Canada.
Two ways to open a wall
A large patio opening is the most used and most exposed part of a house. It has to slide or fold day after day, seal tightly through freeze-thaw cycles, carry heavy triple-glazed panels and still look slim enough to let the view take over. Reynaers, the Belgian aluminum specialist, approaches that problem with two distinct systems.
The MasterPatio lift & slide lets large panels glide smoothly while keeping excellent airtightness and thermal insulation. The Concept Folding 77 lets the panels fold away so an entire wall can open. Both are made from high-quality aluminum that will not warp, swell or crack, both use fully concealed locking, and both are customizable in size, colour and finish to suit the architecture.
The right choice depends less on looks than on how you will use the opening across a Canadian year. The sections below set out the trade-offs plainly, so you can choose with the whole year in mind.
Reynaers door systems at InterHaus

MasterPatio Lift-Slide
Large sliding panels that lift, glide and settle back onto their seals. Uw as low as 0.8 W/m²K, sound reduction up to 43 dB, a 64 mm profile width and 180 mm depth, with fully concealed locking. The choice for a glass wall that stays closed through winter.

Concept Folding 77 (CF 77)
A bi-folding door whose panels fold away to open the whole wall. Uw as low as 1.3 W/m²K, up to 35 dB, a 102 mm profile width and 77 mm depth, with fully concealed locking. The choice for patios, terraces and pool decks that live open in summer.
MasterPatio vs Concept Folding 77
The published data makes the difference between the two systems clear.

A lift & slide door for the wall you look through all winter
In much of Canada a patio door spends more months closed than open, so how it performs in January matters as much as how it opens in July. MasterPatio is the Reynaers system built for that reality. Turning the handle lifts the panel onto its rollers so it glides with little effort; turning it back lowers the panel onto its seals.
The figures back it up: Uw as low as 0.8 W/m²K, the same best-case value as Reynaers’ most insulated windows, and up to 43 dB of sound reduction. A slim 64 mm profile width keeps the glass dominant, in a frame 180 mm deep.
Put MasterPatio where you want the view every day: a living room facing the garden, a kitchen opening to a deck, a principal bedroom onto a balcony. Automated operation is available, and Reynaers doors are compatible with home automation systems.

A folding door for rooms that live outside in summer
The appeal of a folding door is simple: when it’s open, the wall is gone. With Concept Folding 77 the panels fold away and the opening clears, turning a kitchen, family room or pool house into a covered outdoor space for the warm months.
That flexibility comes with a trade-off worth understanding. Concept Folding 77 reaches Uw values as low as 1.3 W/m²K and up to 35 dB of sound reduction, compared with 0.8 W/m²K and 43 dB for MasterPatio. Its 102 mm profile width is also wider than MasterPatio’s 64 mm, so the closed door shows more frame.
For a lakeside cottage, a pool terrace or a covered patio at the heart of summer living, that is usually a fair exchange. For a large opening in a home heated through a long winter, or one exposed to a busy road, MasterPatio is the stronger performer.
Engineered for Canadian weather
Both Reynaers door systems share the material and engineering strengths that make aluminum a sensible choice for big openings in a harsh climate.
Thermal insulation
Advanced thermal insulation and airtight sealing reduce heat loss through the opening and lower energy costs year-round.
Weather resistance
High weather resistance and premium components keep wind-driven rain and snow on the outside of the door.
Stable aluminum
Aluminum resists corrosion and deformation and does not warp, swell or crack, so panels keep operating smoothly for decades.
Powder-coated finishes
Fade-resistant powder-coated finishes are easy to clean and keep their colour with very little upkeep.
Concealed locking
Fully concealed locking on both systems, with slim profiles engineered for strength and security.
Automation ready
Automated operation and home automation compatibility add convenience on larger panels.
Recyclable materials
Built from recyclable materials through sustainable production methods.
All-aluminum Reynaers or an Internorm lift & slide?
InterHaus also supplies Internorm lift & slide doors in uPVC, uPVC/aluminum and timber/aluminum. Those hybrids keep aluminum outside and put a warmer material inside, and they are a natural match when the rest of the house uses Internorm windows.
Choose Reynaers when you want aluminum on both faces of the door, when the opening needs to fold rather than slide, or when the door should match Reynaers windows or curtain wall elsewhere on the façade. A timber interior, by contrast, points toward Internorm’s HS 330 or the wider timber/aluminum range.
Large openings often sit beside fixed glass. If that pane should show no frame at all, Internorm’s HX 300 frameless glazing sets its profile into the wall; if you would rather keep the same slim aluminum lines, Reynaers windows continue the look.
If the opening is part of a Passive House or net-zero envelope, tell us at the start. The aluminum window systems we supply for certified projects, Reynaers MasterLine 10 and Schüco AWS 90.SI+, are covered on our Passive House page, and we will help you choose a door whose performance fits the energy model.
Planning a large Reynaers opening
A lift & slide or folding door is part window, part structure. These are the decisions we work through with homeowners, architects and builders.
- 01
Choose the operation
Decide how the opening will be used across the year: sliding for a glass wall that is mostly closed, folding for a room that opens fully in summer.
- 02
Size and configuration
Confirm the overall opening, the number of panels and which way they slide or fold, with furniture and terrace layout in mind.
- 03
Structure and threshold
Large spans need an adequate header overhead and a well-planned threshold and drainage detail. We coordinate these points with your architect or engineer.
- 04
Finish and options
Select colour, finish, hardware and any automation, all customizable to suit the architecture.
- 05
Supply and installation
InterHaus delivers to site with local warehousing in Ontario and installs across Canada, or supervises your installer.
Reynaers aluminum doors: common questions
Concept Folding 77 is thermally insulated and airtight, with Uw values as low as 1.3 W/m²K. That suits openings used heavily in summer and kept closed in winter. If the door faces the prevailing wind or will be your main view all winter, the MasterPatio lift & slide, at Uw as low as 0.8 W/m²K, is the better insulator.
No. The lift & slide mechanism is designed for effortless operation: the handle lifts the panel onto its rollers so even large glass panels glide smoothly. Automated operation is also available.
Beyond lift & slide and folding systems, Reynaers aluminum doors also come in pivot and hinged configurations. Tell us about the opening and we will suggest the right type.
Very little. The powder-coated finish is fade-resistant and easy to clean, and the aluminum will not warp, swell or crack. Keeping tracks and thresholds clear of grit helps any sliding or folding door run smoothly.
Yes. Reynaers doors suit renovations as well as new builds. In an existing wall, the size of the opening and the structure above it set the limits, so we review the opening and drawings first. InterHaus supplies and installs across Canada.
Both systems use fully concealed locking, and Reynaers engineers its doors for strength and security as well as slim lines, so a wide glass opening doesn’t become the weak point of the house.
