Why Reynaers

Architectural aluminum with a narrow face and a long life

Reynaers is a Belgian manufacturer whose window systems are built around one idea: keep the aluminum profile as slim as possible and let the glass carry the design. That makes it a natural fit for contemporary houses with long runs of glazing, for commercial frontages, and for heritage-style projects that want the fine lines of a traditional steel window in a modern, insulated system.

Aluminum behaves differently from the uPVC and timber at the heart of most Internorm windows. It is rigid, so a narrow frame can hold a large pane. It will not warp, crack or rot, whether the window faces damp coastal air or a prairie cold snap, and its low-maintenance finish resists fading and corrosion. Reynaers offers hundreds of RAL colours and finishes, from quiet minimalist tones to a heritage steel look.

Inside every frame is the part you don’t see: advanced thermal breaks, triple weather seals and high-performance glazing, with Sobinco concealed hardware, reinforced profiles and multi-point locking. Those details are what make an aluminum window work in a Canadian January.

Four Reynaers systems, four different briefs

InterHaus supplies four Reynaers window and glazing families. Together they let one house combine heritage detailing, everyday opening windows and a full wall of glass.

The steel-window look, thermally broken
SlimLine 38

The steel-window look, thermally broken

Slender steel windows define a lot of the architecture people love: converted warehouse lofts, interwar brick houses, the black-gridded glass of a modern rear addition. SlimLine 38 recreates that look in aluminum, with a 38 mm frame and a 29 mm sash that leave as much of each opening as possible to the glass.

Behind the heritage face is a current system. SlimLine 38 uses advanced thermal breaks, accepts triple glazing and reaches Uw values as low as 0.96 W/m²K with sound reduction up to 45 dB, so a character renovation doesn’t have to put up with drafts or street noise to get the right proportions.

Consider it for a brick façade where window proportion matters to the street, or an addition that should read lighter than the original house.

Thermal breaks: how aluminum copes with a Canadian winter
MasterLine 8 and 10

Thermal breaks: how aluminum copes with a Canadian winter

Aluminum conducts heat readily, which is how older aluminum windows earned their reputation for frosty frames. Reynaers solves this inside the profile: an insulating thermal break separates the outer aluminum shell, exposed to the weather, from the inner shell that faces your room. Add triple weather seals and high-performance triple glazing, and the frame stops leaking warmth to the outside.

MasterLine 8 is the efficient everyday choice, with Uw as low as 0.88 W/m²K in a compact 77 mm depth. MasterLine 10 is the deeper system, at 97 to 107 mm, built for the highest insulation values in the range, with strong airtightness and water resistance and a best-case Uw of 0.8 W/m²K.

For a homeowner, that means warmer frames in January, fewer drafts and lower heating demand.

Passive House with aluminum frames

Reynaers MasterLine 10 is available in Passive House Institute certified configurations, with Uw values suitable for Passive House climate zones and the structural stability for large glazed areas. If your project is aiming for Passive House or net-zero, send us the drawings: InterHaus quotes Passive House projects within 72 hours and can compare MasterLine 10 with certified Internorm systems on the same elevation. See our Passive House windows page for the full line-up.

Choosing a material

All-aluminum Reynaers or an Internorm hybrid?

InterHaus is the official Internorm dealer in Canada, so we have no reason to push aluminum into every opening. Internorm’s uPVC/aluminum windows and timber/aluminum windows put aluminum outside, where the weather is, and an insulating uPVC or warm timber interior inside. The Internorm KF 410, for example, is Passive House Institute certified with U-values as low as 0.62 W/m²K, and it is often the right window for bedrooms and quiet rooms.

Many clients end up with both: Reynaers sliding doors and curtain wall on the garden side, where the glass is largest, and Internorm tilt & turn windows in bedrooms and living spaces, where insulation and sound reduction matter most. One supplier coordinates both brands.

Reynaers is usually the better answer when:

  • You want aluminum on both faces of the frame, inside and out.
  • The design depends on very narrow profiles, such as the 38 mm SlimLine frame or a steel-look grid.
  • The project includes curtain wall, a glazed gable or double-height glazing.
  • Windows should match Reynaers lift & slide or folding doors elsewhere on the house.
Slim frames, bigger glass, more daylight
Sightlines

Slim frames, bigger glass, more daylight

Every millimetre of frame is a millimetre of view you give up. On a single window that hardly matters; across a wall of glass it decides whether a room feels framed or open. Reynaers profiles are designed to keep the frame to a minimum while still holding large triple-glazed units.

Slim sightlines also change how a house reads from the street: a glass corner or a full-height panel looks crisper when the frame is thin and the colour consistent.

We help you place each system where it earns its keep: CW50-HI where the glass becomes the wall, MasterLine where windows need to open and insulate, SlimLine 38 where the glazing bars are part of the design. Where a fixed pane should show no frame at all, compare Internorm’s HX 300 frameless glazing.

How a Reynaers window order comes together

Aluminum systems are specified more than they are picked from a brochure. Our product specialists have an architectural background, and we work the way a design team does.

  1. 01

    Drawing review

Send elevations, sections and energy targets. We review sizes and operation, and flag any opening where an Internorm window would serve you better.

  2. 02

    System selection

Each opening is matched to SlimLine 38, MasterLine 8, MasterLine 10 or CW50-HI, with glazing, colour and hardware checked against the Reynaers data sheets.

  3. 03

    Technical support

Architects and builders get data sheets, installation details and clear answers on thermal performance.

  4. 04

Reynaers aluminum windows: common questions

Yes, when the system matches the room. Every Reynaers window we supply uses thermal breaks, triple weather seals and triple-glazing options. MasterLine 10 reaches Uw values as low as 0.8 W/m²K, MasterLine 8 0.88 and SlimLine 38 0.96. For rooms where you sit right beside the glass, we’ll show you how Internorm options compare.

They share a 60 mm frame and 37 mm sash, so they look alike from the room. MasterLine 8 is 77 mm deep with a best-case Uw of 0.88 W/m²K. MasterLine 10 is 97 to 107 mm deep, reaches 0.8 W/m²K and is offered in Passive House certified configurations. Wall thickness and energy target usually decide.

That is what it is designed for. Because it is a thermally broken aluminum system that accepts triple glazing, you get historic steel-window proportions without the cold frames of an original steel window.

Anywhere the glass is bigger than a window: a double-height living room, a glazed stair, a gable facing a view or a glass link between two parts of a house.

Yes. InterHaus supplies and installs across Canada from our showroom at 217 Speers Rd. Unit 8 in Oakville, with technical advice and installation supervision for projects further afield.
